"Draw near and hear the words of the Lord your God."  Joshua 3:9
Women from all over the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic came together at Massanetta Springs, just outside Harrisonburg, VA,from June 11-14.  It was a time for re-creation, study, leadership training, worship, and recreation.  JOSHUA:  A JOURNEY OF FAITH was introduced by keynote speaker, Dr. Alice Bellis, and followed up with two days of workshops that spanned the themes of prayer, Bible study, missions, justice, worship, personal development, and "how-to" ideas for growing PW.  A business meeting to elect new officers for our synod and new leaders for the Massanetta Gathering was held on Saturday evening.
Highlights included re-connecting with friends from other churches and sharing ideas, family-style eating in the dining room with discussions of speakers and presentations, huffing and puffing on our walks up the hill to Hudson auditorium, sharing and showing with brochures and pictures our PW work here at Grace, and building excitement with plans for coming events with PW.  There was lots of "brainstorming" with Sondra Grandfield about the upcoming Massanetta gatherings and her role in planning them.  In 2010 she assists the co-chairs, and in 2011 she is a co chair.
How wonderful to be with Karen ONeill, Carol Tigges, Liz Hayden, Sondra Grandfield, Margaret Brewer and more than 200 other dear, dear women of faith who love and serve the Lord!  What a blessing we received from hearing about other churches, their work and missions!  Especially meaningful, was the personal testimony of Donna Tyson, who spoke about balancing our lives so that the Lord could really use and care for us as well as the presentation by Elder John Winings on Haiti and the work there to bring hope through agricultural development!
God is always good and getting together with others outside your immediate circle always inspires, assures, comforts, and energizes one for daily living and service.
Prayers for the ministry of PW and God's richest blessings for all,
                                            Love in Christ,
                                           Ginny O. Sorrell
